This scan is usually an Internal or Trans-vaginal scan as it gives superior detail.

 

Occasionally after the TV scan we may also scan through the abdomen if we need to check anything else.

 

If the patient is not suitable for an Internal scan then we ask them to attend with a full bladder and scan through the abdomen.

 

This scan assesses the Uterus and Ovaries and the soft tissue of the pelvis.

 

It is very useful for a wide variety of conditions and symptoms such as :

• Menstrual irregularities – heavy or irregular bleeding

• Low abdominal pain

• Infertilty

• Localisation of IUS (Coil)

• Endometriosis and Adenomyosis

• PCOS  (Polycystic ovaries)
